Robert Baxter

Robert Baxter Robert Baxter has been part of the New York area art community for many years. Educated at the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles, Robert came back east and worked in New York as an illustrator. He worked for advertising agencies and magazines such as Good Housekeeping, Ladies Home Journal and Reader's Digest.

In the early 1970s he was one of six painters who started a studio/school in Westport, Connecticut called Studio II. In the early 1980's.
Robert has split much of his time between Connecticut and Provence, France.
While in Provence he conducted painting workshops from under the name, Tour de Provence.

In the States, Robert is on the faculty of two art schools: Silvermine School of Art Silvermine, Connecticut and Rowayton Art Center Rowayton, Connecticut. His paintings in both oil and watercolor have won major awards in France and New York City.
