I have a passion for the printed image. I was raised, so to speak, on reproductions. The associative power of printed images and objects combined with the illusion of depth and tactile materiality is key to my communication. I am engaged in writing about life. But instead of typing or penning the written word, I use appropriated images from our media culture. I speak to topics as varied as war, motherhood, nature, loss and love. My work has always been intuitive and narrative – offering the viewer his/her own interpretation. While my personal “meanings” drive the work, the gift to the viewer is the preservation of emotions.

The surface of my work is not “flat”, as in the traditional sense of collage. Glue is used sparingly. Layers of images are not held with glue, but with thread. Other objects such as beads, rubber balls, knitting needles, feathers, hair, etc. are all held down with thread. This approach imparts a tactile reality and the recognizable touch
of the artist’s hand.
