Richard Hager

Richard Hager "My current work is focused on exploring and representing the beauty and sensuality of the female form. My goal is not to achieve an image of an idealized woman, but to accentuate the forms and features which give the piece the certain feelings and vibrations that were evoked by working with the subject.

These pieces are poetry for the eye; beautiful and complete objects without any outside reference necessary. They have a lyrical quality with graceful lines, curves, shapes, and rhythms. The curves of the female figure resonates with these poetic impressions. There is also an introspective feeling and atmosphere within these pieces that separates them from the outside world. Yet, we are sometimes compelled to question if she is responding to a look, a voice, an event, or a memory from that outside world.

Each piece is a statement by itself, but all of the work relates to the same themes of identity and transformation within a world that blurs fantasy and reality. The narrative of each work describes a point of inspiration achieved during the creation of the piece. The titles and and naratives serve only as a guide to the meanings of these works.

I urge each viewer to determine their own particular interpretative vision and emotional response from their encounter with the piece."
